As if survival on death row wasn’t harsh enough, the Texas department of correction up dated its rules that will take effect on March 1, 2020. New rules, more restrictions for Texas prisons
From that date, regarding correspondence:
- All postal mail must be sent on white paper and in a white envelope only, no stickers, no glitter, no perfume
- No cards, in its original format, will be allowed – post card, greeting card, birthday card, etc.
- All colored drawings or paintings will only be allowed as a color photocopy, no original will be accepted
Concerning the deposit of funds to a prisoner’s prison account or the order of a care package, only those on the prisoner’s approved visitors’ list will be allowed to send money or to order a care package via e-com.

Regarding visits, on top of the metal detector and the patting, drug sniffing dogs will be used for the car search as well as for the visitors. If a visitor is marked by a dog, the visit will be cancelled, and if the same visitor is marked again prior to another visit, the visitor will be removed from the visitor’s list.
